For Road Safety Week

Under the banner “Drive So Others Survive”, we joined towns across Australia to shine a spotlight on road safety — but we did it the Busselton way: with art, music, creativity, and community spirit.
Turning the Town Yellow
With support from the Road Safety Commission, City of Busselton, and Town Team Movement, our team rolled out yellow-themed safety messages across billboard trailers, street banners, and shopfronts — all the way into the heart of the Cultural Precinct.
The week kicked off with a Street Festival on 14 May, where local families soaked up a sunny afternoon of fun.

A Week of Awareness + Action
Throughout the week, we ran activities focusing on road safety for cyclists, youth drivers, and e-scooter riders, alongside Qi Gong sessions and a Kids’ Dance Party.
But beneath the fun was a serious message.
“Busselton has this chance to demonstrate how deeply we care about road safety,” said Lisa Massey, BBTT President.
“We want everyone — residents and travellers alike — to get home safely.”
Why It Matters
In a region like ours, where road travel is a big part of daily life, community-led awareness campaigns can make a real impact. By connecting safety messages with positive public spaces and local faces, we hope they’ll stick with people far beyond the yellow bunting.
