Snap the City

Busselton Photo Walk with WA Travel Writers

Whether you shoot on a DSLR or just love snapping on your phone, a unique opportunity is coming to Busselton this September, and it's set to put local talent in focus.

On Wednesday 4 September 2021 Building Busselton Town Team and the Busselton Camera Club will host a free Photo Walk workshop through the City centre, guided by none other than Stephen Scourfield and Mogens Johansen, the renowned travel writing and photography duo from The West Australian.

Capture Busselton Through a New Lens

The Photo Walk will take participants on a two-hour guided stroll starting from Mitchell Park, weaving through the streets of Busselton and finishing at The Esplanade Hotel. Along the way, participants will learn tips and tricks on how to frame compelling travel images, use urban backdrops creatively, and make the most of natural light — whether using a smartphone or a professional camera.

“This is a fabulous opportunity for local photographers to sharpen up their skills,” said BBTT member Lisa Massey.

“It’s also a chance to show these esteemed journalists just how beautiful Busselton really is.”

Family Fun on the Tracks

As a bonus, the event also includes a photo opportunity for kids at Railway House, where families can capture memories aboard the iconic Ballaarat Steam Engine — adding a playful touch to a day filled with inspiration.

For Locals, Visitors & Camera Lovers Alike

Whether you’re a long-time member of the Busselton Camera Club or a beginner looking to explore photography, this workshop is designed to be fun, inclusive, and interactive. It’s also part of BBTT’s ongoing effort to activate the City centre, bringing more foot traffic, vibrancy, and visibility to local businesses.

“Our club members are thrilled,” said Camera Club President Glenda Nikolic.

“We’re so honoured to offer something this special and different.”
